This newborn photography session in Chagrin Falls to welcome baby Jackson was a dream! I loved spending time with this sweet family and capturing this milestone for mom, dad, and big [fur] sister, Aspen!

Describe Jackson so far. Does he have any personality traits shining through so far?
Jackson has been a very chill baby so far! He loves to be held and snuggled, especially if it means rocking in the nursery. He makes the silliest little faces and we love trying to capture pictures of them. He is a great little sidekick and comes with us everywhere, whether we’re going to the grocery store, roaming the aisles of Target, or jetting to happy hour with family and friends.

What are three words you would use to describe your family?
I guess I haven’t thought much about this! We are first time parents so I think a lot of what we are doing is simply trying to figure out this whole parenting journey. But if I think about what Scott and I have talked about for years, it’s creating a home filled with love and getting back to the childhoods that we both had. Where we played outside after school, ran around with our friends in the neighborhood, and didn’t spend all of our time inside in front of a screen. We want Jack to know how much we love him and how much we love each other, so he can grow up witnessing a healthy and happy relationship.

What was your nursery theme/inspiration?
Simple, clean with a touch of color!

What does a typical day look like with your newborn?
Lots of snuggles, walks in the neighborhood with our pup Aspen, and naps (preferably in mom or dad’s arms).

How has your life changed after bringing home Jackson?
I have definitely learned to slow down! After going from working long hours every day and measuring my worth in how productive I can be in a day, I have really worked to lean into the slowness of the newborn days. Spending time with my little boy and being present with him are my new priorities.

If you could share three pieces of advice with your younger, pre-baby self, what would they be?
You can’t fully “prepare” and control every situation with a newborn! You will figure it out and you will realize how quickly you will be willing to do anything to keep them safe, happy, and healthy. Also, no one has it fully together. No woman is excelling in their career, being the most perfect, most present mom, in the best shape of their life, and having a clean house. Something has to give, and that’s okay!

What’s your favorite thing about starting a family in Charin Falls?
We moved into our dream neighborhood in Chagrin Falls when I was 7 months pregnant. While many people thought we were crazy (we definitely were!), it has been the best thing for our family. I love waking up in our quiet house with our little family. I grew up in Cleveland, so I am excited for Jackson to experience some of my favorite things and places growing up!

Why did you decide to schedule a newborn with Mackenzie Romagni Photography?
I loved the idea of having someone come into our home and see us in our natural setting. The idea of packing up a newborn, and driving to a studio just to hope that our baby cooperated while being moved into all of those little positions just felt so overwhelming to me. I wanted to capture the memories of our first baby but was so scared about it being overwhelming. You were the perfect solution to my fears!

What was your favorite part of your newborn photo session?
It felt so much more natural than I thought! I loved getting to snuggle up with our little family. Even though Aspen was barking and Jack spit up all over his outfit and we had to resort to a baby in a diaper and swaddle, it turned out perfect. The photos are something we will cherish forever.

What is your favorite photo from your newborn session?
Oh gosh, this is so hard! They are all beautiful. I think if I had to pick one, I love the one with Jackson smiling. This was caught so randomly as I sat down in the rocker in our nursery and Jack was falling asleep and started smiling.
